قُلْ هُوَ ٱلَّذِى ذَرَأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَإِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ

English: Say, ‘It is He who scattered you throughout the earth, He to whom you will be gathered.’

Bengali: বলুন, তিনিই তোমাদেরকে পৃথিবীতে বিস্তৃত করেছেন এবং তাঁরই কাছে তোমরা সমবেত হবে।

Meaning & Reflection

'He is the One who scattered you across the earth, and to Him you will be gathered.' al-Saadi and Ibn Kathir note the paired verbs: a scattering now, a gathering then. The dispersal that feels so permanent — billions of separate lives, spread across continents and centuries — has a single appointed point of return. Ask yourself: I experience my life as scattered — pulled across places, roles, relationships, years that seem to lead nowhere in particular. This verse says the scattering is not the end of the story; there is a reassembly, and it is toward Him. Does knowing my dispersed days converge on one meeting change how I'm spending them while they're still scattered?
