Surah Al-Waqi'ah 56:95
سُورَةُ الوَاقِعَةِ · Meccan · Verse 95 of 96
إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ حَقُّ ٱلْيَقِينِ

This is the certain truth:

Meaning and reflection
'Indeed, this is the certain truth.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note the seal set on the whole Surah, 'haqq al-yaqin', the truth of absolute certainty, the highest degree of sureness: everything just described, the Event, the three classes, the deathbed, the destinies, is not conjecture but settled, certain reality. Ask yourself: I file so much of the hereafter under 'possible', 'maybe', 'we can't really know', a comfortable haze that keeps it from pressing on my choices. This verse dispels the haze: it names all of it certain truth, of the surest kind. It confronts my habitual treating of the most important realities as the least certain. If what I've just read is 'haqq al-yaqin', certainty itself, then the only unreasonable response is to keep living as though it were a distant maybe. Do I hold these truths with the certainty He assigns them?
