Surah Al-Waqi'ah 56:82
سُورَةُ الوَاقِعَةِ · Meccan · Verse 82 of 96
وَتَجْعَلُونَ رِزْقَكُمْ أَنَّكُمْ تُكَذِّبُونَ
Translation
And how, in return for the livelihood you are given, can you deny it?

Meaning and reflection
'And you make your denial your livelihood?' al-Biqa'i and Ibn Ashur note the piercing image, 'taj'aluna rizqakum annakum tukadhdhibun': they made denial itself their daily bread, their portion, building a whole identity and living around rejecting the truth. Ask yourself: this describes something disturbingly modern, a life that feeds on denial, where skepticism and dismissal become one's daily nourishment, even one's brand and career. Rejecting the truth is not just a stance they held; it is what they lived on. It presses me to examine what I feed my identity with: is any part of me sustained by cynicism, by being the one who doubts and dismisses, by making 'I don't buy it' my comfortable daily portion? A denial you merely hold can be reconsidered; a denial you live on is far harder to let go.
