فَجَعَلْنَٰهُنَّ أَبْكَارًا

Meaning & Reflection
'And made them virgins.' al-Saadi and Ibn Ashur note 'faja'alnahunna abkara' — restored to unspoiled freshness, purity, and newness, part of the 'new creation' of the verse before. Ask yourself: the recurring theme is *the unspoiled* — the fresh, the untainted, the not-yet-worn. It speaks to a longing this world can never fully satisfy: for a cleanness untouched by history, joy without the residue of past hurt. Here that longing is met and honoured rather than dismissed. And it hints at a mercy available now: through repentance, God offers a kind of freshness in this life too — a heart wiped clean, a fresh start granted no matter what came before. Do I believe such renewal is possible for me, or have I decided my past has permanently spoiled me?
