سُورَةُ الرَّحۡمَٰن · Medinan · Verse 76 of 78
مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍۢ وَعَبْقَرِىٍّ حِسَانٍۢ
English: They will all sit on green cushions and fine carpets.
Bengali: তারা সবুজ মসনদে এবং উৎকৃষ্ট মূল্যবান বিছানায় হেলান দিয়ে বসবে।
Meaning & Reflection
'Reclining upon green cushions and fine, exquisite carpets.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note the closing image of the Gardens: total repose amid rich green cushions and 'abqariyy' — carpets of rare, masterful beauty. The Surah ends its tour of Paradise in deep rest and refined comfort. Ask yourself: the final picture is not of striving or achievement but of *rest* — reclining, at ease, surrounded by beauty. The whole restless engine of my life, forever chasing the next thing, is answered here with a promise of arrival and stillness. It names what I'm truly exhausted for: not more to do, but a place to finally *rest*. Am I seeking that rest where it can only be tasted and lost — or working toward where it is kept and never taken away?
Grounded in classical tafsir: Ibn Ashur, al-Saadi, al-Biqa'i.
