'So which of the favours of your Lord will you two deny?' The thirty-first and final refrain — resting now on the full vision of Paradise complete. al-Saadi notes the Surah has counted favour after favour, from the Qur'an to the Gardens, refusing to let any pass unacknowledged. Ask yourself: after this long, relentless procession of gifts — creation, speech, sun, seas, food, mercy, warning, and eternal reward — the question lands one last time. By now its purpose is unmistakable: to break my habit of taking, taking, taking without a word of thanks. Which of all these favours will I deny? The Surah has trained me, thirty-one times, in a single response — and now asks whether I have learned to say, at last and about everything, 'none, my Lord; I deny none of them.'
