فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَٰكِهَةٍۢ زَوْجَانِ
English: With every kind of fruit in pairs.

Meaning & Reflection
'In both of them are two kinds of every fruit.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note 'min kulli fakihatin zawjan' — every fruit represented, and in pairs, variety heaped on variety, familiar and unfamiliar together. Ask yourself: I often imagine the reward as *less* — fewer desires, a stripped-down simplicity. This verse imagines *more* — an abundance of kinds, delight upon delight, desire fully met rather than suppressed. It reframes the goal: faith is not the renunciation of all pleasure but the trading of thin, fleeting pleasures for full, lasting ones. Am I picturing what I'm striving toward as a bare minimum, when the Qur'an keeps painting it as an overflowing feast?
