فَٱذْكُرُونِىٓ أَذْكُرْكُمْ وَٱشْكُرُوا۟ لِى وَلَا تَكْفُرُونِ

English: So remember Me; I will remember you. Be thankful to Me, and never ungrateful.

Bengali: সুতরাং তোমরা আমাকে স্মরণ কর, আমিও তোমাদের স্মরণ রাখবো এবং আমার কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ কর; অকৃতজ্ঞ হয়ো না।

Meaning & Reflection

'So remember Me; I will remember you. And be grateful to Me, and do not deny Me.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note the staggering reciprocity — 'fadhkuruni adhkurkum': the servant's small act of remembrance is answered by the King of all creation remembering *him*, mentioning him among the highest assembly. And 'kufr' here (do not deny Me) literally means to *cover over* — ingratitude buries the blessing. Ask yourself: the exchange is almost unbelievable in its generosity — I remember God for a moment, and He, who needs nothing, remembers me. My remembrance is a whisper; His is everything. It means no act of turning to Him, however brief, goes unanswered — He responds to my remembrance with His. When my heart drifts and I feel forgotten or unseen, the remedy the verse offers is not to wait to be noticed, but simply to *remember* — and be met, instantly, by being remembered by the One who matters most.
