Surah Al-Kahf 18:88 — Meaning, Translation & Reflection

وَأَمَّا مَنْ ءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحًۭا فَلَهُۥ جَزَآءً ٱلْحُسْنَىٰ ۖ وَسَنَقُولُ لَهُۥ مِنْ أَمْرِنَا يُسْرًۭا

English: while those who believed and did good deeds will have the best of rewards: we shall command them to do what is easy for them.’

Bengali: এবং যে বিশ্বাস স্থাপন করে ও সৎকর্ম করে তার জন্য প্রতিদান রয়েছে কল্যাণ এবং আমার কাজে তাকে সহজ নির্দেশ দেব।

Meaning & Reflection

'But as for one who believes and does righteousness, he will have the best reward, and we will speak to him with ease.' al-Saadi and Ibn Kathir note the other half of just rule — 'wa sa-naqulu lahu min amrina yusra': gentleness, ease, and good treatment for the righteous, so that his power is a shelter to the good, not only a threat to the wicked. Ask yourself: true authority is not only firmness with wrongdoers but *ease* with the good — making life gentle for those who do right, being approachable, generous, kind to the deserving. A leader who is only ever hard, even in justice, has half a heart. Wherever I hold power, do I make things *easy* for the good people under me — encouraging, protecting, treating them with gentleness — or am I so focused on catching the wrong that I make even the faithful feel the weight of my severity?
