Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Maani app and website ("Maani"), operated by Maani Technologies. By creating an account or using Maani, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Maani.

1. The service

Maani is an app for Quran reflection (tadabbur). It helps you read the Quran, study it word by word, reflect on any ayah with AI grounded in classical tafsir, and, optionally, read and share reflections with the Quran.com community. Maani uses the Quran Foundation APIs (Quran.com and QuranReflect) for Quran content and the optional community feature.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Maani.
  • You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your login secure.
  • You are responsible for activity that happens under your account.

3. Quran content and attribution

  • Quran text, translations, and related content are provided by Quran.com and the Quran Foundation and are displayed unmodified, with the translator or source credited.
  • Quran content is provided for reading and reflection within Maani. You may not scrape, extract, resell, sublicense, or redistribute this content outside your personal use of the app.
  • When you use the optional community feature, you also agree to the Quran Foundation Terms of Service and Privacy Policy that apply to Quran.com and QuranReflect.

4. AI reflections

Maani's AI is a study aid. It retrieves and summarizes classical tafsir to support your reflection, and it is designed not to answer beyond its sources. Even so, AI responses may contain mistakes and are not a fatwa or an authoritative religious ruling. For religious decisions, please consult a qualified scholar. You are responsible for how you use the reflections and answers Maani provides.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use Maani for personal study and reflection, and in a manner suitable for a Quranic context. You must not:

  • use Maani to promote hate, extremism, violence, or misinformation;
  • combine or use Quran content with unlawful, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate material;
  • post or generate content that is disparaging to Islam or that misrepresents the Quran;
  • reverse engineer the app or attempt to extract our configurations or keys;
  • abuse, overload, or circumvent rate limits or security mechanisms.

6. Your content

  • You keep ownership of the reflections and notes you create.
  • You grant Maani the permission needed to store and process your content so we can provide the service to you (for example, saving your notes and generating AI responses).
  • Anything you publish through the optional community feature is also governed by the QuranReflect community rules.

7. Subscriptions and payments

  • Maani offers a free tier and optional paid subscriptions (Muhsin and Ummati).
  • Web purchases are billed through LemonSqueezy. Mobile purchases are billed through Google Play or the Apple App Store.

8. Disclaimers

Maani is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we are not responsible for downtime or errors caused by third-party providers (for example, Quran.com, AI providers, or payment providers).

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Maani Technologies is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Maani. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have that cannot be limited under applicable law.

10. Termination

You may stop using Maani and delete your account at any time (see maani.tech/delete-account). We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use Maani after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Maani Technologies operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
