Surah Al-Mulk 67:7
سُورَةُ المُلۡكِ · Meccan · Verse 7 of 30
إِذَآ أُلْقُوا۟ فِيهَا سَمِعُوا۟ لَهَا شَهِيقًۭا وَهِىَ تَفُورُ
Translation
They will hear it drawing in its breath when they are thrown in. It blazes forth,

Meaning and reflection
'When they are thrown into it, they hear it drawing in a horrible breath as it boils over.' al-Biqa'i and Ibn Ashur linger on the imagery: the fire is given an almost living quality, a shahiq, the ragged in-breath of rage, and a churning boil. The Qur'an is not merely informing us that Hell exists; it is making the heart feel its menace, so the warning lands rather than passing as data. Ask yourself: I can know a danger intellectually and stay completely unmoved by it. These verses are designed to move me, not just inform me. Do I let the Qur'an's warnings actually reach my heart, or do I read them the way I read a headline and scroll on?
