ثُمَّ إِنَّكُمْ أَيُّهَا ٱلضَّآلُّونَ ٱلْمُكَذِّبُونَ
English: and you who have gone astray and denied the truth
Bengali: অতঃপর হে পথভ্রষ্ট, মিথ্যারোপকারীগণ।
Meaning & Reflection
'Then indeed you, O you astray deniers...' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note the direct, jolting address — 'ad-dallun al-mukadhdhibun', the ones both *astray* (lost from the path) and *denying* (rejecting the truth): the two failures named together, wandering and refusal. Ask yourself: the verse pairs being *lost* with *denial* — and the order matters, for often the denial is what keeps me lost. To reject the map is to guarantee the wandering. It is a mirror held up to any part of me that is both off-course and unwilling to admit it. Where in my life am I both astray and in denial about it — lost precisely because I refuse to concede that I've lost my way? The first step off that road is simply to stop denying I'm on it.
