Meaning & Reflection

'And abundant fruit.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note the plainness of 'fakihatin kathira' — simply *abundant*, plentiful beyond counting, before the next verse names the two ways this fruit will differ from all earthly fruit. Ask yourself: 'abundant' is a word I rarely get to use honestly about anything — my resources, my time, my energy all feel scarce, rationed, never quite enough. The economy of this world runs on scarcity, and it trains my heart to grasp and hoard. This verse quietly asserts a different economy — one of abundance. It invites me to imagine, and trust, a generosity where 'enough' is not the ceiling but the floor. How much of my anxiety and stinginess comes from a scarcity I've assumed is the only reality?
