Surah Ar-Rahman 55:59
سُورَةُ الرَّحۡمَٰن · Medinan · Verse 59 of 78
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Translation
Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

Meaning and reflection
'So which of the favours of your Lord will you two deny?' Resting on the pure beauty just described, al-Saadi notes the refrain keeps insisting that beauty itself, here and hereafter, is a favour from the Merciful, not a neutral accident. Ask yourself: I encounter beauty constantly, a face, a landscape, a piece of art, and rarely trace it back to its Giver. Which of these will I deny by consuming beauty without gratitude, or worse, by letting it pull my heart away from the One who made it? The refrain trains me to receive every beauty as a message from Him rather than a rival to Him, a favour to be thanked for, and followed home.
