Surah Ar-Rahman 55:24
سُورَةُ الرَّحۡمَٰن · Medinan · Verse 24 of 78
وَلَهُ ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِى ٱلْبَحْرِ كَٱلْأَعْلَٰمِ
Translation
His are the moving ships that float, high as mountains, on the sea.

Meaning and reflection
'And His are the ships, raised high in the sea like mountains.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note the ownership: though human hands build the ships, the verse says they are His, the buoyancy, the sea, the winds, the very possibility of sailing are all His provision, so the towering vessel is really His gift dressed as our achievement. Ask yourself: I look at human accomplishment, the great ship, the aircraft, the towering enterprise, and read it as a monument to our ingenuity. This verse quietly re-attributes it: 'His are the ships.' Everything I 'built' floats on laws, materials, and capacities I was given. How much of what I proudly call mine is, at its foundation, actually His, just passing through my hands?
