Surah Ya-Sin 36:41
سُورَةُ يسٓ · Meccan · Verse 41 of 83
وَءَايَةٌۭ لَّهُمْ أَنَّا حَمَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ
Translation
Another sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden Ark,

Meaning and reflection
'A sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden ship.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note the sign is the act of being carried, a vessel bearing you safely across an expanse of water you could never cross on your own. From Noah's ark onward, the ship is a standing image of a power that carries the helpless over the deep. Ask yourself: I move through a life full of things quietly carrying me, a body I didn't engineer, systems I didn't build, a planet holding me over the void. This verse asks me to see the everyday fact of being held up as a sign. When did I last feel carried rather than self-propelled, and did I thank the One doing the carrying?
