وَإِن كُلٌّۭ لَّمَّا جَمِيعٌۭ لَّدَيْنَا مُحْضَرُونَ
English: [Yet] all of them will be brought before Us.
Bengali: ওদের সবাইকে সমবেত অবস্থায় আমার দরবারে উপস্থিত হতেই হবে।
Meaning & Reflection
'And indeed, all of them will be gathered, brought before Us.' Ibn Ashur and al-Saadi note the counterpart to the previous verse: the dead do not return to *this* world, but not one of them is lost — every scattered generation is collected and made present before Him. Nothing slips through. Ask yourself: I can find the idea of countless forgotten lives strangely comforting — as if being one of billions means I might quietly disappear, unaccounted for. This verse closes that exit: 'all of them, brought before Us.' My life is not a drop lost in an ocean of anonymity; it is on a guest-list with my name on it. Does living as 'unaccountable' still hold up, if I am, in fact, expected?
