Surah Al-Baqara 2:214 — Meaning, Translation & Reflection

أَمْ حَسِبْتُمْ أَن تَدْخُلُوا۟ ٱلْجَنَّةَ وَلَمَّا يَأْتِكُم مَّثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ خَلَوْا۟ مِن قَبْلِكُم ۖ مَّسَّتْهُمُ ٱلْبَأْسَآءُ وَٱلضَّرَّآءُ وَزُلْزِلُوا۟ حَتَّىٰ يَقُولَ ٱلرَّسُولُ وَٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ مَعَهُۥ مَتَىٰ نَصْرُ ٱللَّهِ ۗ أَلَآ إِنَّ نَصْرَ ٱللَّهِ قَرِيبٌۭ

English: Do you suppose that you will enter the Garden without first having suffered like those before you? They were afflicted by misfortune and hardship, and they were so shaken that even [their] messenger and the believers with him cried, ‘When will God’s help arrive?’ Truly, God’s help is near.

Bengali: তোমাদের কি এই ধারণা যে, তোমরা জান্নাতে চলে যাবে, অথচ সে লোকদের অবস্থা অতিক্রম করনি যারা তোমাদের পূর্বে অতীত হয়েছে। তাদের উপর এসেছে বিপদ ও কষ্ট। আর এমনি ভাবে শিহরিত হতে হয়েছে যাতে নবী ও তাঁর প্রতি যারা ঈমান এনেছিল তাদেরকে পর্যন্ত একথা বলতে হয়েছে যে, কখন আসবে আল্লাহর সাহায্যে! তোমরা শোনে নাও, আল্লাহর সাহায্যে একান্তই নিকটবর্তী।
