Surah Ar-Rahman 55:49
سُورَةُ الرَّحۡمَٰن · Medinan · Verse 49 of 78
فَبِأَىِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ
Translation
Which, then, of your Lord’s blessings do you both deny?

Meaning and reflection
'So which of the favours of your Lord will you two deny?' Resting on the branching abundance of the Gardens, al-Saadi notes the refrain keeps insisting that even the described delights of the next life are present favours, gifts of hope given to steady me now. Ask yourself: the vividness of the description is itself a mercy, I am not asked to strive toward a blank unknown, but toward something painted in colour and detail so my heart can lean toward it. Which favour will I deny, including the kindness of being shown, concretely, what awaits? The refrain trains me to be grateful not only for what I have, but for the very picture that keeps me walking in the right direction.
