Surah Ya-Sin 36:50
سُورَةُ يسٓ · Meccan · Verse 50 of 83
فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ تَوْصِيَةًۭ وَلَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِمْ يَرْجِعُونَ
Translation
They will have no time to make bequests, nor will they have the chance to return to their own people.

Meaning and reflection
'Then they will not be able to make a bequest, nor return to their people.' al-Saadi and Ibn Kathir note the sheer suddenness: no time even for a final instruction, no walk back home to loved ones, caught exactly where they stand. The end is not a scene with farewells; it is an instant. Ask yourself: I imagine my ending with time to set things right, a last message, a reconciliation, affairs put in order. This verse warns that the moment may allow none of it. If I could leave no bequest and reach no one, is there something I would desperately wish I'd already said or settled? What am I postponing that this verse says I may never get to finish?
