Daily Ayah ยท Az-Zumar 39:53
You promised yourself it would not happen again, and it did. A quiet voice says you are too far gone, but this ayah answers that voice.
When someone keeps letting us down, people tend to grow cold toward them. It is a human reaction, and it shapes what we expect when we fall short ourselves.
This ayah comes after many stern warnings, and it speaks to people who have gone to excess in sin. You might expect it to open with blame.
Instead, Allah calls them My servants, linking them to Himself. Al-Sabuni notes that this My is a mark of honour, and other scholars agree.
If you feel too far gone, this ayah's hope is for you too. The next ayah shows how to reach it: turn back to your Lord and submit to Him.
Amal for today: Take a quiet moment today to turn back to Allah about one sin that weighs on you, and sincerely ask His forgiveness.
