Daily Ayah ยท Al-Isra 17:23-24

That quiet tiredness when someone you love needs your help one more time, and a sigh almost slips out.

This ayah speaks about parents who grow old and need their children close, a time when patience can wear thin.

The translation says no word that shows impatience. The Arabic is uff, a tiny sound of annoyance, and even that is forbidden.

Ibn Ashur explains that uff is the lightest hurt a tongue can give, and the ayah still forbids it.

Al-Saadi says uff is the lowest level of harm, named to warn against everything above it. Even the smallest hurt is not allowed.

Feeling worn out is human; the ayah asks for gentle words, not perfect patience. We can begin by catching the sigh before it leaves us.

Amal for today: Today, answer an elder in your family in a gentle voice. If your parents have passed, make a du'a asking Allah to have mercy on them.
