Daily Ayah ยท Ibrahim 14:7
A promise and a warning sit side by side in this ayah. Look closely, and you will see they are worded differently.
Notice the two halves. First comes a promise for those who are thankful, then a warning for those who are thankless.
The promise says what Allah will do: I will give you more. It is direct and sure.
The warning is worded differently. It speaks of how severe Allah's punishment is.
Al-Jalalayn explain that the words I will punish you are understood, not spoken. The promise says what Allah will do, and the warning stresses how severe His punishment is.
Take both halves seriously. Let the promise of more make you eager to be thankful, and let the severe warning keep you from taking blessings for granted.
Amal for today: Name one blessing you have today, thank Allah for it, and use it in a way that is good.
