Daily Ayah ยท Ar-Ra'd 13:28
Why does the calm you feel in the morning seem so far away by evening?
Many of us hope for one big moment that settles our worries for good. But worries rarely work that way; they come back, day after day.
This ayah speaks of hearts that find peace in the remembrance of Allah. It says it twice: once about the believers, then about hearts in general.
Look closely at the verb for finding peace, tatma'innu. Both times, it comes in the present tense, not the past.
Ibn Ashur explains that the present tense was chosen to show this peace is renewed and continues, and other scholars agree. It is a calm that keeps coming back.
Returning worry is part of being human, and heavy worry is worth sharing with someone you trust. When your calm fades, you can turn back to the remembrance of Allah.
Amal for today: When a worry returns today, pause and remember Allah for a moment before you react.
